Due to State Budget cuts...The state of Florida has decided that the citizens of Holmes County does not need the Local Driver's License Office any more and are getting ready to close it down after over 30 years of operation. So they can save money....in the process puting the extra cost on us the local citizens.

With the Cost of Gas rising every week the State is not considering the inconvience it would be for our community to have to drive to DeFuniak Springs, Panama City, or Marianna just to renew our driver's license....Think of the older generations of our community, the extra burden it will be on them to drive the long distance and a lot of the citizens in our area can not afford to take the extra time off work to drive out of town and spend hours standing in long lines.

The Holmes County Government could allow the Driver's License Office to use one of the offices in several different county buildings...if they choose to allow it. There is several options that they could use to keep the driver's license office open.

THIS IS AN ELECTION YEAR....and it appears our County Commissioners are not too concerned with our true needs !!!

Let Our Voices be heard at the polls.

Think of the problems that are going to arise with the closing of the local Driver's License Office....
  1. The extra gas costs
  2. Older citizens will refuse to drive the extra distance causing their license to expire and then they will get issued citations or possibly arrested.
  3. Require the hard working citizens to take a day off work just to get their license renewed.
  4. Most households do not have access to the internet and a lot of the local citizens have never used a computer or the internet.
